This project entailed designing pages for a text of our choice that is available on Project Gutenberg. I loved Winnie the Pooh as a kid so I was excited to do this one. I also enjoyed this assignment a lot as I've designed newspaper and magazine layouts before, but book pages were new to me.
The project was a practice in using character styles. Although it looks very simple, it actually took a long time for me to decide what layout and text choices to make and then to make sure they were organized correctly as styles.
I originally wanted to design a vector image as well, but got in over my head and had to remind myself that this wasn't an illustration class. The flowers are actually glyphs from the typeface Fiora Monograms. I created outlines and used them to illustrate an object style.
The rest of the styles use Charcuterie Engraved for title, IM PICA small caps for the subtitle and IM Pica regular for the body text. Those are actually two separate typefaces rather than a small caps created by inDesign.
